A research and development centre (Project Owl) will be constructed and developed, in association with Onderstepoort, the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Pretoria. The Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Pretoria is one of 46 veterinary faculties in Africa and the only one of its kind in South Africa. It is the second oldest faculty in Africa, dating back to the early 1920’s. This facility will focus in particular on research and development in the breeding of rhinos.

In addition, a rhino breeding sustainability model will be developed, in order to assist existing private rhino owners and would be rhino breeders in increasing the success of their respective rhino breeding initiatives.
